What are they?

Essential Fatty Acids are “essential” because your body can’t make them; you can only get them from food.

Why are they important?

You need these Essential Fats for the healthy functioning of your heart, brain, hormones, skin and eyes.

So, do you stress over the foods you eat every day to get the right amount of Essential Fats? Or do you get them, easily and in one place with the Essential Fat source made from food? That’s Greenfat.

The Greenfat Difference:

Greenfat is unique compared with other products — especially Omega-3 supplements:

  1. More Essential Fatty Acid chains. Greenfat has five, while many other products have two or three (what you’re used to seeing most often is EPA and DHA). Your body uses them all; why not get them all in one, potent place for your heart, brain, hormones, skin and eyes. Plus, you won’t have to wonder, “Hey, did I get ALA, SDA and GLA in my food today?”
  2. Minimally-processed plants. No industrial overprocessing, no high-heat extraction that damages nutrients. No animal products.  And because our oils are carefully concentrated from nutrient-dense plants, you get the naturally-occurring phytonutrients, enzymes, and peptides from the whole plant, along with those Essential Fats. Our one-of-a-kind process results in a deliciously nutty-tasting, super-concentrated oil that delivers the healthy Essential Fats your body needs and can really use, yet likely doesn’t get enough of.
  3. Completely Transparent. We tell you all the ingredients, how they’re sourced and processed. We even put the recipe on the label.

ABOUT NUTRITIONAL OILS

“Nutritional oils” is a term to describe a wide variety of fats, including dietary fats and oils, sterols, and triglycerides. Nutritional oils are typically derived from a variety of natural sources, including marine oils, animal fats, shellfish, microalgae, seaweed, plant seed oils, and more. Greenfat’s Men’s and Women’s Advanced Formulas are made of nine plant-based source ingredients to support better health.

THE NUTRITIONAL OILS IN GREENFAT

Ahiflower Oil

Is a proprietary, refined seed oil from the plant Buglosoides arvensis. It contains more biologically advanced Omegas than any other natural plant source.

Nutritional Benefits

Ahiflower Oil contains the highest concentration of Omega-3 stearidonic acid (SDA) in plant form, which your body converts to EPA four times more efficiently than Flax Seed Oil. Plus, Ahiflower Oil is a significant source of gamma linolenic acid (GLA).

How It's Processed

Ahiflower® is grown using regenerative farming to produce oilseeds which are expeller pressed to yield an omega-rich oil.

Ahiflower Oil
Omega-3 (SDA) + Omega 6 (GLA)
Algae Oil

Can include up to 40,000 species ranging from single-celled microscopic organisms known as microalgae to kelp and seaweed.

Functional Benefits

Due to its Omega-3 content, Algae Oil may help support a healthy inflammatory response, brain and eye health and nervous system health. And, in one study. Algae Oil supplements were found to be nutritionally equivalent to cooked salmon and work the same way as fish oil in your body (but from a plant-based source).‡

Nutritional Benefits

Algae Oil is rich in two of the main types of Omega-3 fatty acids — eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

How It's Processed

Expeller pressing (also called oil pressing) is a mechanical method for extracting oil from raw materials. The raw materials are squeezed under high pressure in a single step.

Wheat Germ Oil

The germ is the part of the grain that's responsible for the development and growth of the new plant sprout. Although it’s very small, the germ contains many nutrients. Making one tablespoon of Wheat Germ Oil takes about five pounds of wheat.

Functional Benefits

Wheat Germ Oil may support healthy cholesterol levels already in the healthy range. And due to its Vitamin E content, may support semen quality and libido.‡

Nutritional Benefits

Wheat Germ Oil contains the highest concentration of Vitamin E in minimally processed food form and is an excellent source of thiamin and a good source of folate, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc.

How It's Processed

Wheat Germ Oil is obtained by mechanical pressing using a small-scale screw press or by supercritical extraction. With this last method, different pressures and temperatures were tested and the tocopherol concentration in the extract was monitored during extraction. Ingredient is then passed through additonal refinement. Further research has shown that natural forms of Vitamin E may be more effective than chemical extracts.

Pumpkin Seed Oil

Is made of the skinless seeds of a special type of pumpkin, the Styrian Oil Pumpkin, which contains phytosterols.

Functional Benefits

May support healthy inflammatory response, a 2021 study on rats show Pumpkin Seed Oil may support prostate and urinary tract health. ‡

Nutritional Benefits

Phytosterols found in Pumpkin Seed Oil represent a class of phytochemicals that include plant sterols and stanols, compounds that are structurally similar to cholesterol and compete with it for absorption in the digestive tract. Pumpkin Seed Oil is particularly rich in linoleic acid, a type of Omega-6 fatty acid.

How It's Processed

First the seeds are washed, then dried at approx. 50°C, ground and mixed with water and salt into a slurry, and then roasted so that the water evaporates. The roasting process separates the protein and oil contained in the seeds. Finally, the slurry is fed into a press where the oil is extracted.

Rice Bran Oil

Is the oil extracted from the hard outer brown layer of rice called chaff (rice husk).

Functional Benefits

May support inflammatory response.‡

Nutritional Benefits

Oryzanol found in Rice Bran Oil May support inflammatory response.

How It's Processed

Our cold-pressed Rice Bran Oil is produced by compressing rice bran through a mechanical screw press under mild heating (<50 °C). The resulting oil is then passed through filter paper to produce the refined functional oil.

Chia Seed Oil

Is made by extracting oil from the seeds of the plant known as Salvia hispanica L.

Functional Benefits

Due to its Omega-3 content, Chia Seed Oil may support skin health, as well as exercise and sports performance.‡

Nutritional Benefits

Chia Seed Oil is particularly rich in Omega-3 in the form of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), Omega-6, and smaller amounts of other fats, such as oleic acid and stearic acid.

How It's Processed

Our Chia Seed Oil is extracted using a compression method that involves pressing the seeds at 4°C or 25°C in the dark. This contributes to the preservation of antioxidants. Sub and supercritical fluid extraction are currently the most promising processing methods that yield a better purity of ALA.

Hemp Seed Oil

Is obtained by pressing Hemp seeds.

Functional Benefits

Hemp Seed Oil may support inflammatory response and promote skin health. A 2010 study performed in animals indicated that Hemp Seed shows promise as a possible ingredient to help reduce some common symptoms of menopause, most likely because of its high levels of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).‡

Nutritional Benefits

Our Hemp Seed Oil contains three polyunsaturated fatty acids: linoleic acid(Omega-6), alpha-linolenic acid (Omega-3), and gamma-linolenic acid (Omega-6).

How It's Processed

Hemp Seed Oil and marijuana are two very different things. Our Hemp Seed Oil is made by cold-pressing the ripened seeds of industrial Hemp plants. These plants have almost no (less than .03%) tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound that produces the high associated with marijuana.

Evening Primrose

Is made from the flower seeds of Oenothera biennis, native to North America.

Functional Benefits

Evening Primrose Oil may help relieve PMS symptoms. Additionally, according to a 2005 study, oral supplementation of EPO helps smooth skin and improve its elasticity, moisture, firmness, and fatigue resistance.‡

Nutritional Benefits

Our Evening Primrose Oil is abundant in natural gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) and is made up of approximately 70% of this Omega-6 essential fatty acid.

How It's Processed

Evening Primrose Oil is obtained by cold expression from the seeds of the Evening Primrose Plant.

Mushroom Oil

Is made from dried Agaricus bisporus mushrooms.

Functional Benefits

According to recent studies, Vitamin D2 has been shown to be as effective as Vitamin D3 in maintaining circulating concentrations of 25-hydroxyvitamin D. Further research has shown that natural forms of Vitamin D may be more effective than chemical extracts.‡

Nutritional Benefits

Mushroom Oil contains small amounts of Vitamin D2.

How It's Processed

In a proprietary process, we expose Agaricus bisporus mushrooms to a low UVB light, which improves the Vitamin D content without damaging any of the mushrooms’ other natural nutrients.

We take three parts Wheat Germ oil and Ahiflower oil to one part mushroom powder and steep the mushrooms in 5 micron bags at 50º C and press the bags to make infused mushroom Vitamin D oil.

Sea Buckthorn Oil

Is extracted from the berries, leaves, and seeds of the Sea Buckthorn plant (Hippophae rhamnoides), a small shrub that grows at high altitudes in the northwest Himalayan region.

Functional Benefits

Sea Buckthorn Oil contains phytosterols — plant compounds with antioxidant functions that help protect your body and may support normal inflammatory response. Additionally, Sea Buckthorn Oil is a good source of quercetin, an antioxidant that may support heart health.‡

Nutritional Benefits

The berries contain vitamins A, C, K, and E. Phytosterols and quercetin.

How It's Processed

Sea Buckthorn Oil is extracted via mechanical cold-pressing of the seeds and fruit pulp. Greenfat uses Sea Buckthorn Oil as a natural shelf life extender.
